David Sheldrick Elephant and Rhino Orphanage in Kenya National Park, Nairobi. You need to be there just before 11am for the one hour of public viewing per day while the elephants are fed. If you become a sponsor before you go, you can organise a special evening viewing, minus the crowds. Just check out their website. |

Night train (train only goes on night!) from Nairobi to Mombasa, it's about 70 euros to go there and back on first class. First class is two beds and every booth can have man and women, on second class one booth have 4 beds and only womens or mens can be in one booth, so for couples its better to take first class. Train is reconstructed as it was when kenya was under british power, restaurant waggon is great and dinner is served to you on tables and it's makes you feel as lord. If you want get cheap, go to south from Mombasa, nort side is made for American turist, there is big Italian / European Hotels, on south there is cheaper hotels. If you take train to Mombasa, you need to use taxis or busses to move on coast. Train goes every night to other direction so if you plan to see the train, you need to spend one night on other end and then come back. Busses are cheaper but leaves very early on morning and can take about 12h to travel. |

If you plan to go out for night, be sure you have money for taxi to come back Hostel. It's not safe to walk anywhere if you have white skin. There were few nightclubs near Hostell just in few minutes walk and those were safe. |

On Banda street there was nice restaurant called "Seasons". Good meal for two with beer was littlebit over 1000 shillings. Yaya (java) Center is opposite direction as city centrum and was bretty safe to walk, and there were good cafe and shops, about 2.5km walk. If you are planning to get cheap presents, go to Hilton hotell, under hilton hotell is (left street from main doors) two shops inside it. Very cheap to get stuff and usually prices are 100-2500 shillings when they can ask from you on markets and other places about same presents over 28 000 shillings. Near Banda street is two way street and there is Tusky food-store, other side of street is other present store what has price-tags on presents and you can get bigger presents from there, those are usually ranged from 400-30 000 shilligns, but you get quality. |
