WELL IM FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND OUR IDEA OF A NIGHT LIFE IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM THEIRS. THINGS USUALLY CLOSE EARLIER BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF BARS AND LIVE ENTERTAINMENT.

Lake Tahoe is fantastic.......can be visited in a day if you are short on time. Try and get away from the towns of Tahoe and Heavely though.

There was a nice little coffee shop named Temple near 10th and J street with wifi, which is important because there is no internet in the hostel. Otherwise, it's a pretty boring city in this way.

If you go San Francisco, Greyhound is cheaper than Amtrak, but it was a bit of a hassle on the day I came back that way. Probably Amtrak would have been better.
