Luxembourg: Country Overview
Visit ancient castles and stately homes; bike through unspoilt forests and along quiet country lanes; hike along a dense network of extensive paths; kayak down fast-flowing rivers; windsurf across tree-fringed lakes. Small and exceptionally pretty, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a green and very civilised haven. In the north the hills of the Ardennes present a picturesque, wooded landscape dotted with charming villages and old churches; to the east Mullerthal, or Little Switzerland, is where the tri-lingual people of Luxembourg (the national languages are Letzebuergesch, German and French) come to cycle and walk, while the Moselle Valley offers rich vineyards and scenic river landscape; and towards the south Luxembourg City itself encompasses fortress ramparts, grand buildings and the intriguing streets of a cobblestoned old town.
